Katrin Oddsdottir Member of The Constitutional Council, Lawyer
33★What we did in the Constitutional Council, we decided we transfer the people with totally different background, very different views, we are going to find the solution all live with, we are not going find the solution most people wanted, just like run over the minority.
So we talk and talk and talk, we talk to general feedback, and try to find out, "Oh, but you are contradicting yourself because before you said this, bra, bra, bra" always talking, talking, talking, Because this is more fair politics, if you want to have a peaceful society, you have to be the change, you have to work on peaceful matters, And you have to find a way to approach every protect with social respect And you are not going to down to the level you trying to eliminate.
It was really difficult in the beginning, because what we had, like our ideas, we felt all in special imperfect how can I put one lined, people gonna saying what they are doing, But is was completely opposite, we now, we even trust people.
And all of a sudden, there are thousands of people write constitution together, it was rather good to do.
I was in the area of human rights, and natural resources and the rights of the nature. and embironmental protection. That was three of my, two of my, at least biggest hobbies and interests with a law of human rights, and protection of nature.
We are taking really radical stance towards protection of nature. because Iceland, I don't know if you know, but this is beautiful nature, and it has been attackd by big American aluminum companies which want our energy, and said to sacrifice unbelievable our highland, you know, it was a horrible story, I think.
We built only Bolivian and Ecuadorian Constitutions which are really radical in a way they protect the rights of nature, for nature itself, NOT how can man use nature, but why should nature be in a past, should be protected without any, you know, concentration of how we benefited from it.
why we wrote that themselves that nature has a special right, it is a foundation of all life.
